Hunting maps that you have imported into the HuntSmart big game hunting software can be viewed by using the Map Viewer. The Map Viewer displays rectified (georeferenced) maps using the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) and Latitude/Longitude Grid Coordinates systems. The Map Viewer also has many additional features which will be described throughout this document. Some of the most useful features include the ability to view previously entered information on maps, and also the ability to easily enter new information on maps by dragging/dropping items.
Opening the Map Viewer
Let us first discuss how to open the Map Viewer. The Map Viewer can be opened from within the “Map”
section by clicking on the “View Map” Icon
as shown in Figure 1 below. You can learn more about the “Map” section by clicking HERE.

(Figure 1)
Secondly, the Map Viewer can be opened from within any section that contains coordinates entered by you (such as “Sightings”) that has coordinates available on one or more existing maps. If maps exists that contain the coordinates, the underline blue hotlink field called “Available Map” will be shown as seen in Figure 2. In order to view a hunting map, you must click on the hotlink.

(Figure 2)
Available Map Field
The “Available Map” field is an automatically generated field for all sections that have the ability to contain coordinates. Once you have selected an item such as “Sightings”
, the system will check the coordinates of the selected record against all available hunting maps. If any maps are found that can display the record’s coordinates, then the “Available Map” field will display on the screen (Figure 2) in order for you to open the map for viewing. If you open the Map Viewer by using the hotlink, the selected record will automatically be shown on the map as a label or icon as shown in Figure 3 and Figure 3.1.
